A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is a document issued by an insurance company or broker that verifies the existence of an insurance policy. It outlines the key aspects of the policy, such as the type of coverage, policy limits, and effective dates. This document is crucial as proof of insurance when you're dealing with clients, subcontractors, or landlords.

For instance, if you're a window and glass contractor bidding for a project, the client may request a COI to ensure you have adequate liability insurance. By presenting your COI, you provide them with the assurance that any damages or accidents occurring during the project are covered, thereby building trust and credibility.

Having a COI is important for:

  • Demonstrating proof of insurance to clients, partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Building trust and satisfying contractual requirements.
  • Facilitating smoother business transactions and partnerships.
